Welcome to Thailand!Your tour starts in Bangkok, where you can use your hotel room from check in time (12.00 hrs at noon) on day 1. You will meet your English speaking tour leader at 12.00 hrs noon on day 1 in the lobby of your hotel in Bangkok.

You are in the lively city of Bangkok, the ‘City of Angels’ where you are free to discover the huge variety, the colours, the sights, and the smells. Stop at road-side hot-dog stands, shop in giant shopping centres, or visit one of the many Wats (temples). Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Po, Wat Arun and Wat Saket are the most popular of the temples. Taking a bike ride along the green klongs (canals) is a special experience, immerse yourself in the busy Chinese district or go on a long-tail boat ride. Our tour leader is fully equipped to give you all the advice and tips that you will need.

Overnight in BANGKOK. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Today you are completely free to do as you please in Bangkok. It is highly recommended to visit the famous Grand Palace and the (literally) stunning Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew). Both are easily reached by boat or tuk-tuk. Later in the day you may choose that optional bike ride along the quiet green klong paths that lead you through the Bangkok of 3 decades ago.

At night the city is buzzing with activity- take in a performance at the Calypso Cabaret, Bangkok’s famous “transvestite show, watch a Muay Thai bout (kickboxing) or take a leisurely evening cruise on the Chao Phraya River.

Overnight in BANGKOK. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Today we travel on to Kanchanaburi via the colourful floating market of Damnoen Saduak. We will visit the famous bridge over the River Kwai and there is the opportunity to visit the small but impressive War Museum and the largest memorial site in the region, the final resting place of many World War II soldiers. On arrival in Kanchanaburi, we board a long-tail boat that will take us to the charming Jungle rafts floating hotel, or ‘floatel’ for an overnight stay.

Overnight in KANCHANABURI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

After breakfast we take the boat again and go to the Erawan Waterfalls, arguably the most beautiful falls in all Thailand. We visit the waterfalls (entrance fees not included) where you have the opportunity to go swimming in the clear waters so remember your swimming suit!

We then continue to Kanchanaburi town where we overnight in the Tamarind Guesthouse (subject to change), which has a swimming pool available for use.

After an early start, and then breakfast, we make the long but scenic drive to the beautiful ruined city of Sukhothai. En route we stop at a local crocodile farm at Boeng Boraphet, where a large colony of Macaques lives. We then travel to Sukhothai where we spend the night.

Overnight in SUKHOTHAI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Today, your tour leader will take you on a bicycle tour of the expansive Historical Park, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The bicycle tour is likely to take about 3 hours, including frequent stops to visit temples. The fee you pay for Sukhothai locally (about € 5, this amount is subject to change). Your hotel is close to the Historical Park so you can spend the rest of the day there by yourself if you wish, or explore the charming town of new Sukhothai or perhaps enjoy a Thai massage.

Overnight in SUKHOTHAI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

We leave Sukhothai this afternoon and take a public bus to the Northern capital of Chiang Mai (approx. 6 hours). Travel is comfortable and provides you with a unique way to see the landscapes of Northern Thailand. On arrival we’ll make our way to the hotel and then we suggest a visit to the famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar.

You are free to explore Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand, which offers a mix of ancient and modern, where you can wander through the small shopping streets, with their array of fascinating shops, dine at one of the many local restaurants, visit the evening market or hire a bike and explore that way. You can watch a Thai boxing match, visit a Buddhist monastery or travel to Doi Suthep just outside the city and climb the 300 dragon flanked steps to the exquisite temple. You can also tour one of the many temples in Chiang Mai, such as the Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple in the city, famous for its 4-inch tall crystal Buddha statue.

Your hotel (subject to change) offers a swimming pool, a lovely way to end your day and relax in the tropical heat.

Overnight in CHIANG MAI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Full day is free at leisure. Overnight in CHIANG MAI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

If you want, you can book an optional 2-days trek through the hills which starts today, highly recommended! If not, then you can spend today exploring Chiang Mai and its surroundings in your own way.

For ‘non-walkers’ it is possible to learn Thai cooking (optional). The course starts with a visit to the market and then you learn how to make 3 or 4 different dishes.

Today starts (for those who have pre-booked) an optional 2-day adventure trek through the hills. You are thereby supervised by an experienced guide, who also works as a cook. The trek is easy to do for people in good shape. Please be aware however that in the case of heavy rain the walking track can be slippery and therefore a bit heavier than under normal circumstances.

Each day you walk between 3 and 5 hours and of course you make frequent stops, so you have the opportunity to become acquainted with some of the many minorities who live in this beautiful environment, such as the Karen and Lisu. You stay in one of the minority villages.

On the second day of the trek you will go rafting on bamboo rafts (depending on water levels). Sleeping bags and backpacks for the trip could possibly be hired. Baggage that you do not need during the trek can be stored in our hotel in Chiang Mai. The first trekking day lunch and dinner are included. On the second day breakfast and lunch included.

Note: This trek is run in different ways. Sometimes the group split in two, and depending on the season and weather conditions the route is slightly modified. It is possible that you are going to other villages on your trek. Your tour leader looks at the situation on the ground. The number of course hours above is therefore approximate.

This morning you can enjoy strolling around Chiang Mai, stretching your legs before going in the afternoon to the station, where you board the comfortable air-conditioned overnight train to Bangkok (reserved couchettes). It is a journey of some 745 km, taking about thirteen hours to reach the capital.

Overnight in BANGKOK. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

On arrival into Bangkok, you are taken to your hotel. You now have the rest of the day off. You must remember to see Wat Po! After visiting the temple with a reclining Buddha of 46 meters in length, you can progress to the Wat Po medical school, a major massage school in Thailand. The masseurs really throw themselves into vigorously pushing and pulling at you- it is an experience you must have.

Less well known and yet not far from Khao San and the Democracy Monument, is Wat Saket. This beautiful golden temple sits atop a hill that you access via a spiral path. Once at the top, you have a great view of Bangkok. This would be a nice place to see the sun set.

At night, it’s a festival of lights and Bangkok fun. At the cozy “night market” on Khao San Road, you can browse the neighbourhood, filled with restaurants serving delicious Thai cuisine. It’s always nice to just sit on a stool at one of the street vendors and enjoy a dish of Pad Thai noodles, a cob of corn or a delicious steamed meat pie while watching the life pass by. You can find massage parlors, bars and lots of shops.

Overnight in BANGKOK. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Much of the day you have free to explore Bangkok. You can, for example take the river taxi along the Chao Praya river to Wat Arun, an architecturally impressive temple. It is plastered with colourful pottery shards! Or stroll around (again) around the bustling Chinatown where there is always something to catch your eye.

At the end of the day you step onto the night train with comfortable air-conditioned couchettes reserved to Surat Thani in southern Thailand. You bridge the 670 km stretch in about twelve hours. A relaxing way to make this long journey!

Overnight in SURAT THANI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

On arrival into Surat Thani we travel by bus and by ferry to Thong Sala (Koh Phangan) where we’ll transfer to our bungalows and relax on this paradise island. If you prefer, you can take exciting ATV (quad bikes) safaris, go fishing with a local fisherman, walk to refreshing waterfalls or enjoy a barbeque on the beach at sunset.

Overnight on KOH PHANGAN. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

The attractions of the island include a temple on a mountain top, the Wat Khao Tam, which is ideal for meditation, the Tan Sadet waterfall, Hat Rin Beach, Paeng National Park and satellite islands such as Koh Tao where you will find beautiful beaches and coral reefs. Koh Phangan is familiar to many – largely due to the monthly Full Moon parties when, at each full moon there is a big party on the beach. Choose your departure date carefully if this is something for you!

Overnight on KOH PHANGAN. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

The last day at Koh Phangan. Maybe take a Songthaew (pick up truck) across the island and explore other idyllic beaches, try out a new restaurant or cafés, or look for those local handicrafts.

Overnight on KOH PHANGAN. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Today we swap our paradisiacal island for another. We transfer by songthaew and ferry to Koh Samui, where we spend the next couple of days.

Overnight on KOH SAMUI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Another free day in paradise. The best known beaches on Koh Samui are Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach. Chaweng Beach is the largest and has seven kilometers of pearl white sand with crystal clear water. In the central part there are many nice shops, good local restaurants and bars close by, it is very pleasant, particularly in the evening. Located south of Chaweng is Lamai Beach, a beautiful four kilometer long beach. The audience is generally younger than Chaweng and evening entertainment goes on well until the early hours.

Besides beaches, Koh Samui has other attractions like the coral world Laem Sed and Tong Takien, waterfalls at Hin Lat and Na Muang, phallic rock formations south of Lamai Bay, butterfly gardens, a honey farm, a massive high sitting Buddha, a monkey training center in Ban Khao Phra and then there’s Na Thon where shops, restaurants and travel agents have all settled.

Overnight in KOH SAMUI. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

Today we sadly bid farewell to our island paradise and at the end of the day, after travelling by boat and bus to Surat Thani, we catch the overnight train back to Bangkok.

Overnight in BANGKOK. Hotel Accommodation is included in this package.

You arrive into Bangkok for the last day of your tour. You can spend some more time this morning exploring Bangkok before you leave to travel home. We wish you a comfortable journey home and are sure you will take with you some wonderful memories of Thailand.
